Living Ratings of Law Firms 2026
The brand and digital intelligence of the world's leading law firms
Welcome to the Living Ratings of Law Firms 2026
In with the new
Is your firm keeping pace with change?
As expectations continue to rise across the legal sector, the need for a strong brand and digital presence has never been more important.
This year’s theme, in with the new, reflects a clear pattern across the market. Firms are rethinking how they present themselves, how they communicate, and how they engage their audiences. Nine of the firms in this year’s Top 20 have recently refreshed their brands and launched new websites, signalling a shift towards more considered, more distinctive brand and digital experiences.
In this year’s analysis, we continue to see progress across the market, but the gap between the Top 20 and the rest remains significant. A select group of firms are pulling ahead through clarity, consistency and the effective use of digital to deliver meaningful, engaging experiences.
When we look more closely at engagement, we see leading firms making smarter use of technology to enhance digital performance. Strong search visibility, intuitive user journeys, personalisation, accessibility and well-executed social channels all contribute to a more effective and connected experience.
Evidence, the strength of brand and content across each touchpoint, remains a challenge for many firms. Internal complexity, uncertainty around positioning, or a reluctance to stand out can all limit progress.
We hope you enjoy this year’s online Ratings experience. If you have any feedback or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Our methodology
In January and February 2026, our analysts reviewed the brand and digital intelligence of the world’s leading law firms – source: The 2025 Global 200, ranked by revenue, published by Law.com and American Lawyer.
Each of the 100 firms was rated through the eyes of a law firm’s external target audience and measured against 100+ criteria, including several new metrics covering engagement (website functionality and the social media channels used) and evidence (brand and content on website and social media).
With digital experiences playing a crucial role in conveying the essence of a brand, our analysis highlights how effectively these law firms communicate their identity and value through digital channels.
