Welcome to the Living Ratings of Asset Managers 2026
Brand presence. Brand preference.
This year’s research show that asset managers are getting better at showing up. With over 14% of firms showing evidence of a restructured or refreshed digital presence, digital estates are becoming more structured, content is better organized, journeys are clearer and firms are creating a stronger, more consistent brand presence.
But presence is only the starting point.
As digital experiences become more structured, and increasingly optimized for search, AI systems and discoverability, the real opportunity is to make that structure work harder for the brand. That means building beyond information, functionality and findability to create stronger storytelling, clearer meaning and a more distinctive point of view. Because being present does not mean being preferred.
Brand preference is created when clients understand not just what you offer, but why you matter, what you stand for and why they should choose you. Our new proprietary Living Ratings lens, Brand Preference Potential, is designed to measure the signals that help create that preference.
The next stage of digital maturity is therefore not simply about improving presence. It is about turning digital presence into brand preference.

Our methodology
In June, July and August 2026, our analysts reviewed the brand and digital intelligence of the world’s leading asset managers – source: © IPE Top 500 Asset Managers, published in June 2026.
Each of the 100 firms was rated through the eyes of an intermediary and measured against 100+ criteria, including several new metrics covering engagement (website functionality and the social media channels used) and evidence (brand and content on website and social media).
As LLM-driven search and discovery becomes increasingly influential, we also dedicated several new metrics to review brand and content visibility across artificial intelligence models.
With digital experiences playing a crucial role in conveying the essence of a brand, our analysis highlights how effectively these asset managers communicate their identity, purpose and value through their digital channels.
