A brand new look for Lewis Silkin
Lewis Silkin is an international law firm with a focus on what matters most to its clients – their ideas and people. The firm is proud to be different, from its work with disruptive, industry-changing brands to the way it has reimagined important aspects of law firm culture.
Back in 2016, our task was to revolutionise the brand, messaging and positioning they used at the time, and create an engaging visual identity for the future, one that reflected the true essence of this vibrant business.
Following a firm-wide discovery phase involving internal and external client depth interviews, focus groups and a global employee survey, our team created a distinctive brand to reflect the firm’s culture and set it apart from its competitors.
As a key part of the project, we transformed the face of the firm by developing complementary identities for the two business divisions which existed at that time: ‘Lawyers for the Creative World’ and ‘Global HR Lawyers’.
The memorable brand marque we created, based on a kaleidoscope, personified Lewis Silkin’s ability to cut through the clutter of ‘black-letter’ law to get to a clear and commercial solution; the variety of colours represented the diverse abilities of their talented people. This logo was supported by a series of kaleidoscope graphics, one for each practice area, which (at that time) allowed each team to own a part of the brand.
Lewis Silkin is a law firm with a difference, and the branding work we undertook in 2016 helped to communicate the diverse and unique nature of its business – innovative, collaborative and specialist. It cleverly unified the two main business divisions which existed at the time, whilst allowing them to have their own personality.
The brand went on to win best overall visual identity, best visual identity from the professional services sector and best brand architecture solution at the Transform Awards Asia. Worthy recognition for a stand out brand!
