Challenge

Since 2022, AllianceBernstein (AB) has rapidly scaled its Active ETF platform, growing to 20 funds across fixed income and equities and surpassing $12.5bn in assets under management. 

But in a category increasingly defined by automation, algorithms and robo-advice, AB faced a critical question: how do you clearly articulate the enduring value of human-led active management?

The task was to equip financial advisors – AB’s primary audience –  with a compelling, differentiated narrative. One that could cut through a tech-obsessed market and resonate equally with institutional, private wealth and individual investors. AB needed a platform that made the relationship between human insight and advanced technology unmistakably clear.

Solution

We created ‘Minds & Machines’ – a platform built on one simple truth: technology is most powerful when brilliant minds are driving it.

The visual language followed the same logic. Concentric lines of dynamic triangles carry dual meaning, referencing both human decision-making and data triangulation. Circular and square elements signalled the different characteristics of equities and fixed income, balancing intuition with structure.

The system was built to flex. Brand advertising, product banners, social, mobile, web, conference. One modular language, infinitely scalable. Headlines like "Insight can't be indexed" do the heavy lifting on message, while ETF ticker-led executions made complex products instantly readable.

Result

‘Minds & Machines’ delivered a unified, modern campaign that clearly differentiated AB’s Active ETFs in a crowded, technology-led category. It gave financial advisors a simple, confident story to tell: AB combines powerful data with the judgement, experience and accountability of real portfolio managers.

The scalable system ensured consistency across every touchpoint, strengthening AB’s position as a leader in active management – and demonstrating the enduring power of brilliant minds, working alongside sophisticated machines.
