Living Ratings of law firms 2025
The brand and digital intelligence of the world's leading law firms
Welcome to the Living Ratings of law firms 2025
Ready for disruption?
As law firms increasingly dominate the headlines, the need for a strong brand and digital presence has never been more critical.
And in an era of relentless disruption, law firms that understand their core values and effectively leverage technology to deliver these messages and content will transform their challenges into opportunities. A clear unwavering purpose will win out with clients and the talent wanting to work with them.
In this year’s analysis we've seen the average Ratings score of law firms increase for the third year running, but this is only half the story. The gap between the top 20 law firms and the rest remains wide, with a handful of elite, determined firms pulling away from the pack through brand and digital experiences that effectively engage each of their target audiences.
When we look closely at our engagement scores in detail (website functionality and the social channels used), we see the leading firms using technology to drive their digital intelligence, with excellent search results, online tools, personalisation, SEO and accessibility, along with strong use of social channels.
Evidence (the brand and content across each channel) is still proving to be hard to achieve for many law firms, likely hampered by the decision making in a partnership structure, genuinely not knowing the firm’s value proposition, or a fear of standing out.
We hope you enjoy our first fully online experience for Ratings and if you have any feedback or questions, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.

Our methodology
In January, February and March 2025, our analysts reviewed the brand and digital intelligence of the world’s leading law firms – source: The 2024 Global 200, ranked by revenue, published by Law.com and American Lawyer.
Each of the 100 firms was rated through the eyes of a law firm’s external target audience and measured against 100+ criteria, including several new metrics covering engagement (website functionality and the social media channels used) and evidence (brand and content on website and social media).
With digital experiences playing a crucial role in conveying the essence of a brand, our analysis highlights how effectively these law firms communicate their identity and value through digital channels.
