Inspiring Illustration

The art of Illustration has been an important part of my personal and work life, ever since I was able to hold a pencil. Adobe Illustrator is my favourite program to work in as it gives unlimited freedom of line movement, and provides intuitive tools. I love to browse illustration galleries to see new ways of working with line and colour. Below are some of the most recent artists I came across that inspired me:

Masha Karpushina
Intricate and curious about the every day, Masha's carefully composed illustrations shine a light upon a more abstract angle of our world. All images are hand drawn and later reworked on Photoshop in order to illuminate and breathe life into the colours and textures of the drawings. Her clients include All Saints, American Eagle Outfitters, EMI, and Mercedes Benz.

Montana Forbes
Montana Forbes is a self-taught artist with a Visual Communications, BA degree and a graphic design background. Her work focuses on form, line and an intrinsic sense of colour which developed growing up between the southern USA, Southern Africa and the U.K. Each artwork is sketched in pencil or ink then transfered into Photoshop for further reworking and colour additions. Her clients include BBC TV, Filofax, The Times and Time Out.

Philip Smiley
Philip Smiley has been a freelance illustrator since graduating with an MA from the School of Visual Arts , New York in 1999. He has designed graphics & illustrated for many major fashion labels, and while being best known for highly detailed Victorian etchings & toiles, Philip is also very versatile & is able to work in many other mediums including watercolor, oils & acrylics. His clients include Stella Mccartney, Burberry, DKNY, and Dazed and Confused.
